Only four per cent of tenants and landlords are aware of the new Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards being introduced in just a fortnight’s time.
A number of landlords are also unaware of their Energy Performance Rating of the property they rented or let out, and fewer landlords have never taken steps to improve the energy efficiency of their property. Many landlords are also unaware that they can receive a £4,000 fine if a newly-let property is found to have an Energy Performance Certificate rating below E after April 1.
Landlords and tenants need to know what their EPC rating is so that they can make sure their property complies with the new legislation, compliance will save money.
